Gov Eno pledges support for tourism and blue economy development

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the State’s tourism sector and accelerating the growth of the blue economy, noting that young professionals with innovative ideas will continue to find partnership and support through the ARISE Agenda.

The Governor gave the assurance while speaking with Government House correspondents after inspecting one of the filming locations of The Black Book 2 (Old Scores) at Ishiet Beach/Market in Uruan Local Government Area. The global-scale production, led by filmmaker Editi Effiong, has turned parts of Uruan into an active creative hub, attracting talent and economic activity into the State.

Governor Eno praised Effiong for his vision and creative excellence, describing his work as a powerful catalyst for domestic and international tourism. He said the filmmaker’s bold interpretation of Akwa Ibom landscapes proves that creativity not complaints drives development.

He urged young Akwa Ibomites to avoid divisive posturing and instead emulate successful sons and daughters of the State who are shaping industries through creativity, innovation, and hard work.

Governor Eno pledged continuous support for Effiong and other young creatives, particularly those willing to return from the diaspora to invest in the State’s emerging blue and creative economies.

Responding, Editi Effiong expressed deep appreciation to the Governor for fostering a stable, secure, and investment-friendly environment. He noted that the government’s infrastructural footprint especially road networks and modern hospitality facilities has positioned Akwa Ibom as one of Nigeria’s most film-friendly destinations.
