In a Democracy Day message rich in gratitude, unity, and reaffirmed commitment, Governor Umo Eno on June 12 saluted the people of Akwa Ibom for their role in Nigeria’s 26 years of uninterrupted democratic governance. He used the occasion to rally citizens around the ideals of peace, collective progress, and the non-partisan implementation of the ARISE Agenda.
Governor Eno acknowledged past leaders who laid the democratic foundations of the state and vowed to advance that legacy through humility and development-driven leadership. Highlighting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms as “bold and promising,” he emphasized a pan-Akwa Ibom approach to governance—transcending party lines and uniting the people for shared growth.
“Our democracy is consolidating. As your Governor, I remain humbled by your faith in me and I pledge to lead with the fear of God and dedication to brotherhood,” Eno declared. He concluded with blessings for national and state leaders, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and urged Akwa Ibomites to “continue to Arise, pray, and walk in unity.”
