GOVERNOR ENO SOLICITS FEDERAL SUPPORT FOR IBOM ARISE RESORT

Governor Umo Eno has appealed for federal support in completing the Ibom ARISE Resort, a signature tourism and economic development project being constructed on a massive gully erosion site in Uyo. While leading RMAFC officials on a tour of the site, the Governor explained that the 70-hectare project is part of a broader vision to position Akwa Ibom as a premier destination for hospitality and ecotourism.
The site was originally an ecological disaster zone, but the state government has invested billions in land reclamation, road access, and landscaping. Now, with designs in place for a 5,000-seater convention center, luxury hotel, and nature park, the Governor says the project requires additional funding to reach completion.
“Subnational governments must start creating economic value beyond oil receipts,” he said. “This project will create jobs, attract investment, and boost our GDP. We are asking the federal government to support us because this aligns with national diversification goals.”
RMAFC Chairman Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu was visibly impressed, calling the project a model for infrastructure-led transformation. “We will report this to relevant federal authorities. What you have done here is a testament to visionary leadership,” he said.
