Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting press freedom and fostering a transparent environment in which journalists can operate without fear.
During a meeting with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) President, Comrade Alhassan Abdullahi Yahaya, at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo, Governor Kefas declared that his government will not only allow criticism but engage constructively with the media. He described journalists as key partners in governance and accountability.
He also committed to infrastructural support and establishing an enabling environment for media houses, pledging that his administration would continue to welcome scrutiny and open collaboration with the press.
In response, the NUJ President expressed gratitude, noting that inclusion of journalists in state governance and respect for their constitutional duties strengthens democracy. He commended Governor Kefas’s leadership for advancing security, education, and infrastructural development in Taraba.
