Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Kebbi State has signed the ₦871.3 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, finalising the state’s fiscal blueprint for the coming year. The signing marks a critical step in ensuring the smooth implementation of government programmes and projects beginning in January 2026.
The budget emphasises infrastructure development, healthcare, education, agriculture and security, reflecting the administration’s focus on programmes that directly impact the welfare of residents and stimulate economic growth. It prioritises spending on key sectors designed to foster sustainable development, particularly in rural communities and major urban centres across Kebbi.
Governor Lawal described the budget as realistic, people-oriented and growth-focused, underlining the need for prudent resource management to maximise value for citizens. He also called on ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to ensure timely and transparent execution of their respective allocations to guarantee that planned interventions yield tangible results.
The Kebbi State House of Assembly had earlier passed the appropriation measure after robust deliberations, with lawmakers stressing the importance of fiscal discipline and accountability as cornerstones of the state’s development strategy.
With the Governor’s signature, the 2026 budget is now operational, positioning Kebbi State to commence year-ahead planning, procurement and project roll-out with a clear financial roadmap.
