The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Sunday revealed the shortlist for the 2025 African Player of the Year awards, with Moroccan Achraf Hakimi, Nigerian Victor Osimhen, and Egyptian Mohamed Salah in contention for the men’s title.
Hakimi, currently sidelined with injury, played a key role in Paris Saint-Germain’s historic UEFA Champions League triumph and their runner-up finish in the expanded Club World Cup final against Chelsea. If fully fit, the 27-year-old is expected to lead hosts Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations starting December 21, as the nation aims to win the trophy for the first time since 1976.
