Celebrity chef Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has publicly shared the emotionally charged instant when Guinness World Records (GWR) officially confirmed her achievement of producing the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice. The announcement followed her record-breaking event, Gino World Jollof Festival, held in Lagos.
In a video posted on Instagram on Monday, September 16, 2025, Hilda is seen surrounded by family, friends, and her team — tears welling up — as she waits for the video call from the GWR adjudicator. The representative from Gino Nigeria joins the call. The GWR official affirms that the cooking and serving process, as well as the documentation, met all requirements. Then comes the declaration: “With a total of 8,780kg, Hilda Baci and Gino, you are the Guinness World Records title holders for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice. Congratulations, you are officially amazing!”
Hilda Baci expressed profound gratitude, emphasizing that while her name is on the record, it was a collective effort: “This record was made possible because Gino created the platform … to all of us.” She dedicated the achievement to everyone who cooked, packed, served, cheered, prayed, and contributed in any way.
