The House of Representatives has congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad on the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary, urging renewed patriotism and commitment to national development.
In a statement signed by House Spokesman, Rep. Akin Rotimi Jr., the legislature described Independence Day as both a reminder of sacrifices by past heroes and a call to action for present generations. Speaker Abbas Tajudeen encouraged Nigerians not to lose hope despite current challenges, stressing that unity and resilience remain the nation’s greatest strengths.
The House pledged to continue legislating with integrity, strengthening institutions, and defending vulnerable groups. It also called on youths, elders, and leaders alike to play active roles in shaping Nigeria’s democratic journey.
