HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO INVESTIGATE JAMB’S TECHNICAL ERROR
The House of Representatives has ordered an investigation into the mass failure recorded in the 2025 UTME, following revelations by JAMB that a technical glitch affected nearly 380,000 candidates. The resolution followed a motion of urgent public importance moved by Hon. Adewale Adebayo (Osun).
JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during a press conference in Abuja, admitted a technical fault in the data servers of two vendors operating in Lagos and the southeast. This error, he said, caused the affected candidates’ answers not to be uploaded correctly during the first three days of the exam. Oloyede took full responsibility and announced a special re-sit scheduled between May 16 and 19.
While lawmakers such as Sada Soli praised Oloyede’s integrity and transparency, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas insisted that the investigating committee would determine whether he deserved formal commendation. The House also called for the establishment of CBT centres across all 774 LGAs to reduce travel burdens and urged the release of results for candidates under the age of 16.
