At the resumed hearing of treason charges against IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, the Department of State Services (DSS) testified that Kanu smuggled a radio transmitter concealed in household goods into Nigeria. The DSS operative, codenamed “Mr. DDD,” told the Federal High Court in Abuja that the transmitter was hidden at a house in Ihiala, Anambra State, and used to incite secessionist violence. Evidence tendered included a video of Kanu referring to the transmitter as a “nuclear weapon” for Biafra and threatening South-East residents who violated sit-at-home orders. The court admitted a search warrant, video clips, a flash drive with 18 broadcasts, and a controversial Vanguard newspaper article alleging Kanu ordered 2,000 human heads for burial rites. The defence opposed several items but was overruled. Justice James Omotoso ruled that the court would visit the DSS premises to inspect the container that housed the transmitter. The case was adjourned to June 18.
