Israel-Gaza Conflict Escalates as more Palestinians killed; US Officials Arrive for Ceasefire Talks

Heavy bombardments continued across Gaza overnight, killing dozens of Palestinians, as US and regional envoys arrived in Tel Aviv to push for renewed ceasefire negotiations amid the deepening humanitarian crisis.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 120 people were killed in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to more than 37,000 since hostilities resumed earlier this year. Residential buildings in Khan Younis and Rafah were reduced to rubble, while hospitals continued to struggle with shortages of fuel and medical supplies.

Eyewitnesses reported that airstrikes targeted several densely populated neighborhoods, forcing thousands to flee to temporary shelters. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said the strikes were aimed at “neutralizing militant command centers” operated by Hamas.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Middle East envoy Brett McGurk arrived in Israel to meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and defense officials. Their visit aims to push for a “sustainable cessation of hostilities” and expand humanitarian corridors into Gaza.

International aid agencies have renewed warnings of a potential famine, citing limited access to food, water, and electricity. The United Nations reiterated calls for an immediate humanitarian pause, stressing that “the scale of civilian suffering is unconscionable.”

Despite diplomatic efforts, analysts say the road to a ceasefire remains fraught with political and security complications, as both sides continue to trade blame over stalled negotiations and mounting civilian casualties.
