JIGAWA PDP TO JOIN NATIONAL OPPOSITION COALITION AHEAD OF 2027

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State has announced its intention to join a growing opposition coalition aimed at challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Dr. Aminu Abdullahi Taura, chairman of the newly inaugurated Jigawa PDP Coalition Coordinating Committee, disclosed this during a ceremony inaugurating local government committees across the state’s 27 LGAs. He revealed that the PDP in Jigawa had concluded all internal consultations and resolved to participate fully in the coalition for “national restoration and stability.”
“We have ultimate hope to succeed in unseating President Bola Tinubu and all other bad leaders under APC — God willing,” Taura said, expressing confidence that disgruntled APC members would eventually rally to their cause.
Dr. Taura also confirmed that former Governor Sule Lamido, a PDP heavyweight, is already in Abuja participating in high-level discussions to shape the new coalition. The state chapter has mobilized from the grassroots level, forming ward and polling unit cells in preparation for a national realignment.
The move reflects broader attempts by opposition figures to consolidate power amid increasing dissatisfaction with the Tinubu-led federal government’s economic and security performance.
