A member of the House of Representatives from Kano State, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared his full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
The lawmaker’s defection marks another major political realignment in the North-West as the APC intensifies its mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections. His move is seen as a consolidation of the ruling party’s strength in Kano, a strategic electoral base with one of the highest voting populations in the country.
Party insiders say Jibrin’s entry is expected to boost grassroots mobilisation and enhance coordination between federal and state campaign structures. Analysts note that his defection further underscores the shifting alliances among northern politicians as the race toward 2027 gradually gains momentum.
The APC leadership in Kano has welcomed the development, describing it as evidence of confidence in the current administration’s economic and political agenda.
