KANU CALLS FOR US, EU PROBE INTO SOUTHEAST INSECURITY AHEAD OF TRIAL
Detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu has called on the United States and European Union to launch an impartial investigation into alleged state-sponsored insecurity in Southeast Nigeria.
During a meeting with his legal team ahead of his April 29 trial, Kanu decried what he described as a government-orchestrated campaign to discredit IPOB through false associations with violent raids in Anambra and Imo States.
His legal counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, said Kanu believes these actions are aimed at distracting international attention from growing calls for his release.
Meanwhile, reports emerged that Finland has finalized extradition proceedings for Biafra agitator Simon Ekpa, who is expected to face trial in Nigeria by July 15. IPOB has disassociated itself from Ekpa, accusing the government of spreading false narratives to manipulate Kanu’s trial.
