KATSINA HEALTH AUTHORITIES ROLL OUT DIGITAL SYSTEM, RESOURCE BOOST TO FIGHT MALARIA

Ahead of its peak rainy season, Katsina State has launched a comprehensive effort to combat malaria, allocating 10% of its health capitation funds to malaria response and launching a first-of-its-kind digital health portal.
In a coordinated briefing, Health Commissioner Musa Adamu and KTSCHMA Director-General Mohammed Safana revealed that antimalarial medicine was already stocked and distributed statewide. Adamu declared this proactive governance: “We are acting before the emergency.”
The newly introduced digital portal allows residents to register for subsidized healthcare, update provider choices, lodge complaints, track hospital visits, and receive reminders—empowering citizens with control over their own health data. Safana described the platform as a tool for transparency and public confidence.
This initiative marks a structural upgrade of the state’s healthcare landscape—moving from paper-based records to real-time, citizen-driven systems. It establishes a model for other states, focusing on malaria control with long-term digital infrastructure.
