Ahmed Usman Ododo, Governor of Kogi State, has submitted a 2026 budget of N₦820.49 billion to the State House of Assembly, under the banner “Budget of Shared Prosperity: Driving Sustainable Growth for All.”

The proposed budget marks a 35.7% increase on the 2025 revised estimate and seeks to expand capital investment across critical sectors.

Highlights of the plan include substantial allocations for infrastructure development, human-capital investments, agriculture and agribusiness, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), education, healthcare, and water access including directives for commissioners to sink boreholes in each Local Government Area.

Governor Ododo said the budget is designed to stimulate economic growth, deepen internally generated revenue, and create jobs. The plan forecasts expansions in agricultural output, industrial activity, and SME contributions to the state’s GDP alongside over 250,000 jobs from capital projects, agricultural programmes and MSME interventions.

Additionally, the governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to security, land-use reforms, and public-private partnership (PPP) models aimed at sustaining long-term development.
