In a rather disturbing report, Unknown gunmen have assassinated Oluwatosin Onamade, a chairmanship aspirant for Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State.
According to his brother, Oluwafemi Onamade, the attackers—dressed in black and wearing face masks—had been trailing him for some time before striking on Saturday night in Ijede, Ikorodu. They initially shot him, but when the bullets failed to cause immediate death, they used a machete to inflict fatal injuries.
Oluwafemi also revealed that his brother had previously survived an attack in 2021 and believes the murder is politically motivated, given his strong candidacy for the LCDA chairmanship position.
The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the assassination, with suspicions growing over possible political rivalries behind the killing.
