Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has reaffirmed the military’s commitment to the mental and emotional wellbeing of its personnel, especially those in conflict zones.
Speaking at the Defence Headquarters’ First Bi-Annual Sensitisation Training on PTSD and Emotional Intelligence in Enugu, Gen. Musa—represented by Maj.-Gen. Wara Idris—said the programme aims to equip troops with tools to manage post-traumatic stress and maintain peak performance.
The session, which brought together personnel from the Army, Air Force, and Navy, focused on early detection of emotional stress, breaking the stigma around mental health, and encouraging troops to seek professional support.
General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Maj.-Gen. Oluyemi Olatoye, praised the initiative as vital to operational successes and urged all personnel to take advantage of the sensitisation programme for personal and collective improvement.
