NASARAWA PDP LAUNCHES RECONCILIATION DRIVE TO REUNITE PARTY

In a strategic move to heal internal rifts and reposition for future political contests, the Nasarawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated a 13-member reconciliation committee. The party’s new state chairman, Adamu Ninga, made the announcement in Lafia, the state capital, emphasizing that the initiative is part of a broader vision to build a more united and formidable PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The committee is headed by Sule Nasidi, chairman of the PDP Elders’ Forum in the state, and has been tasked with reaching out to aggrieved stakeholders, reconciling differences, and reintegrating alienated members into the party’s mainstream. “This is about the future of Nasarawa State,” Ninga said. “We want a PDP that is inclusive, one that truly reflects the hopes of the people and can lead them to better governance.”
Ninga expressed regret over the disputes that had weakened the party in recent years and offered a public apology to disaffected members. He called on them to set aside personal grievances and embrace the collective goal of returning PDP to power in the state. “We can only take over governance if we are united. This committee is empowered to reach every corner of the party structure and bring everyone back on board,” he added.
As part of the renewed engagement with the grassroots, the PDP also plans a ‘thank you’ tour across the 13 local government areas of the state to appreciate voters for their support during the 2023 general elections. Ninga further commended the performances of PDP lawmakers at both the state and federal levels, urging them to continue delivering on their mandates as examples of good governance.
The reconciliation initiative is viewed as a critical first step in rebuilding internal party cohesion and regaining public trust, positioning the PDP as a viable alternative in Nasarawa’s evolving political landscape.
