Operatives of the NDLEA in Edo State have intercepted 1,455kg of cannabis after suspected traffickers abandoned two Toyota Sienna buses along the Okhokho-Isi route in Uhunmwode LGA.
State Commander Mitchell Ofoyeju, who disclosed the seizure, said the operation occurred around 3:00 a.m. on October 29, 2025. The buses, believed to have departed from Okpuje an area notorious for cannabis cultivation were abandoned by the suspects who fled before officers arrived.
One of the vehicles, a light-blue Sienna (EPE 545 EV), contained 666kg of dried cannabis, while the second, a dark-ash Sienna (ABC 142 CD), carried 789kg.
Ofoyeju said investigations are ongoing to track down the traffickers and warned criminal networks that the command will sustain its crackdown on drug operations. He urged residents to report suspicious activities and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening community collaboration to ensure a drug-free Edo State.
