The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has inaugurated a new Grid Code Review Panel (GCRP) to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the country’s electricity transmission system.
The panel, tasked with evaluating and proposing amendments to the national grid code, consists of 19 members, including representatives from generation companies, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), distribution companies, and eligible customers.
Speaking at the inauguration, NERC Commissioner Chidi Ike stressed the need for an updated grid code, given the sector’s rapid developments since the last panel was formed in 2018. NERC Chairman Sanusi Garba urged members to remain committed to their duty of ensuring a functional and modernized electricity framework.
Panel Chairperson Nafisat Ali assured that the team would work diligently to address challenges in grid operations and enhance overall system performance.
