The Niger Delta Sports Festival torch made its way through Edo State, received by Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa, Edo State Sports Commission Chairman Hon. Amadin Enabulele, and Festival Ambassador Patience Igbiti.
The torch, which began its tour in Bayelsa, is a key symbol of the festival’s unity and excitement as it travels through the nine Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) mandate states.
The festival, set for April 1-8 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, will feature 3,000 athletes competing in 17 sports, restricted to participants aged 25 and below.
Events will take place across five venues, including the Godswill Akpabio Stadium and Uyo Township Stadium, as organizers gear up for one of the region’s biggest sporting showcases.
