The Nigerian Army has officially commenced the construction of a new military training depot in Ebonyi State, aimed at enhancing the operational readiness of troops in the region. The project, which was inspected by high-ranking military officers on Monday, January 12th is part of a strategic initiative to decentralize training facilities and strengthen the security architecture across the Southeast.
The new depot is expected to serve as a hub for specialized tactical training and the induction of new recruits, providing them with the necessary skills to combat emerging security threats. Military authorities emphasized that the location was chosen to improve response times and provide a permanent presence that will deter criminal activities, including secessionist violence and communal clashes. Residents of the host community have welcomed the development, expressing hope that the military presence will not only bring improved security but also stimulate the local economy through increased activity and infrastructure development in the surrounding area.
