OKPEBHOLO CALLS FOR UNITY, PROMISES FRESH MOMENTUM FOR EDO DEVELOPMENT

Following the Supreme Court verdict that affirmed his election, Governor Monday Okpebholo has extended an olive branch to opposition parties and former political adversaries, urging them to join hands in building a more prosperous Edo State. Addressing journalists and party loyalists in Benin City shortly after the judgment, the governor said his victory was “not for celebration alone, but a renewed call to service.”Governor Okpebholo emphasized that the state’s developmental goals could only be achieved through unity and collective will. “I am not just the governor of APC members; I am the governor of every man, woman, and child in Edo State. I invite everyone—regardless of political affiliation—to contribute to this shared journey,” he said.He noted that his administration would prioritize economic revitalization through youth empowerment schemes, agricultural investment, and large-scale infrastructural projects. Key on his agenda is the expansion of Edo’s digital economy, reforms in public education, and renewed investments in healthcare systems.Political analysts believe the governor’s reconciliatory tone may set the stage for greater political stability in the state after months of fierce litigation and tense power plays.
