Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has been named the 2024 Woman of the Year by Independent Newspapers in recognition of her contributions to national development.
The award, presented on Saturday, March 15, 2025, celebrates her work as a former senator, the wife of a former governor, and a dedicated advocate for women, youth, and children.
While she was unable to attend the event, Hajia Fatima Tajudeen Abbas, wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, represented her. Tinubu expressed gratitude for the honor, dedicating it to Nigerian women, youth, and children.
“This award will further motivate her to do more,” Hajia Abbas stated on her behalf.
Other honorees at the event included Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, named Man of the Year, and former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award. The awards were presented by Chief Olabode George, who chaired the occasion.
