PANDEF Slams Wike for Blocking Rivers Peace Talks

The Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has accused FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of obstructing reconciliation efforts in the Rivers State crisis, despite President Bola Tinubu’s call for peace.

Speaking in Abuja, PANDEF’s Peace and Reconciliation Committee Chairman, Obong Victor Attah, said Wike has repeatedly refused to meet with the committee, hindering mediation. “Negotiation can only take place if both parties agree to be accessible,” Attah stated, warning that PANDEF may withdraw if the impasse continues.

PANDEF National Chairman, Ambassador Godknows Igali, also criticized Wike for dismissing the group and disrespecting its late leader, Chief Edwin Clark. “Less than 24 hours after we met the President, Wike publicly attacked PANDEF,” Igali said.

Despite Wike’s resistance, PANDEF reaffirmed its commitment to peace and urged him to reconsider his stance for the good of Rivers State.
