President Tinubu arrives in UAE for Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to participate in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW). The President’s arrival on Monday, January 12, 2026, marks the beginning of a high-level diplomatic mission focused on energy transition, climate action, and green investment opportunities for Nigeria.

President Tinubu is expected to deliver a keynote address at the summit, where he will outline Nigeria’s roadmap toward achieving its “Net Zero” goals while balancing the need for economic industrialization. A key part of his agenda includes bilateral meetings with UAE leadership and global investors to discuss partnerships in solar energy, green hydrogen, and sustainable infrastructure. The President is accompanied by a delegation that includes the Ministers of Environment, Power, and Foreign Affairs.

The visit comes at a time when Nigeria is seeking to diversify its energy mix and attract foreign direct investment into its renewable energy sector. Officials from the Presidency stated that the summit provides a unique platform for Nigeria to showcase its potential as a leader in Africa’s green economy. Following the summit, the President is also expected to hold talks regarding further strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and the UAE.
