RIVERS STAKEHOLDERS CALL FOR PEACEFUL RESOLUTION TO STATE’S POLITICAL CRISIS AT TOWN HALL

A town hall meeting hosted by News Central in Port Harcourt saw a diverse array of stakeholders voicing concerns over Rivers State’s prolonged political crisis. The event provided a forum for dialogue on suspended leadership, economic instability, and governance tensions.
GDI President Bright Amewhule criticized Governor Siminalayi Fubara for allegedly abandoning the party that supported his rise. Labour Party chair Hilda Dokubo condemned godfatherism in the state, stating, “You can’t have a governor and another person in charge.”
Former APC Chairman Igo Aguma said, “Crisis merchants are profiting from chaos,” urging the governor and his predecessor to resolve issues behind closed doors. Elder statesman Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe called for immediate reconciliation, saying, “The state is currently being ruled by someone not from Rivers State. We all suffer when there’s no peace.”
News Central MD Kayode Akintemi assured participants of the station’s continued role as a neutral platform for constructive dialogue and consensus-building.
