SENATE RESHUFFLES KEY COMMITTEE LEADERSHIP

The Nigerian Senate has announced a major reshuffle, appointing new chairpersons and deputies to oversee critical committees, including those for newly established regional development commissions.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio revealed that Senator Babangida Hussaini will chair the North West Development Commission, with Senator Muntari Dandutse as deputy. Senator Titus Zam was named chairman of the North Central Development Commission.

In the South East, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu was appointed chairman of the South East Development Commission, with Senator Kenneth Eze as deputy. Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan was reassigned from the Local Content Committee to lead the Diaspora and NGOs Committee, while Abdul Ningi now chairs the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) committee.

Other notable appointments include Senator Garba Maidoki as chairman of the Sports Development Committee, Victor Umeh as head of the National Population and NIMC Committee, and Joel Thomas as chairman of the Local Content Committee.

Akpabio commended the senators for their dedication during the 2025 budget defense sessions, emphasizing their commitment to promoting financial accountability.
