SENATOR AKPOTI-UDUAGHAN CALLS FOR EQUITY, TRANSPARENCY IN DEMOCRACY DAY MESSAGE

Suspended Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan used her Democracy Day message to press for deeper democratic values beyond elections. Honouring Chief MKO Abiola and other June 12 heroes, Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasized that democracy must translate into social justice, inclusion, and developmental impact. “True democracy must uphold the rule of law, empower the weak, and protect dignity,” she said.
Encouraging increased citizen engagement, especially from women and youths, she called on Nigerians to actively shape governance outcomes. Despite her suspension, she reaffirmed her commitment to legislative transparency and inclusive governance, urging continued public vigilance to build “a Nigeria that serves all, regardless of background.”
