Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has described her return to the Senate chamber as a victory not just for herself but for the resilience of her constituents who stood by her during her six-month suspension.
Speaking with journalists shortly after her re-entry into plenary, Senator Natasha said her ordeal had only strengthened her resolve to champion issues affecting women, youths, and marginalized groups. She emphasized that her return demonstrated that democracy thrives when people remain vigilant and committed to accountability.
The lawmaker thanked her supporters across Kogi Central and Nigeria, acknowledging their protests and advocacy which she said played a major role in her reinstatement. She also promised to pursue legislative measures aimed at empowering local communities, creating jobs, and strengthening oversight in governance.
Natasha’s suspension earlier in April followed a heated confrontation on the Senate floor, sparking controversy and accusations of political victimization. Her reinstatement was finalized this week after leadership interventions within the Senate.
