SOWORE CALLS FOR ABOLITION OF SEVERAL EDUCATION AND SERVICE INSTITUTIONS AFTER UTME ERRORS

Former presidential candidate and activist, Omoyele Sowore, has called for the scrapping of several national education and service institutions, including the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing them as “useless.”
Sowore made the declaration on social media following JAMB’s recent admission of errors in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results that affected thousands of candidates. “Time to scrap these extracurricular bureaucratic busybodies …JAMB, NYSC, TETFUND, NELFUND, they are all useless!” he wrote.
JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, had earlier admitted to technical glitches and errors in result processing that contributed to the poor performance recorded in the examination. Out of nearly 2 million candidates, over 1.5 million scored below 200. Only 0.63% scored above 300, sparking public outrage and growing criticism from education stakeholders nationwide.
