TINUBU DECLARES NIGERIA TOO RICH IN RESOURCES FOR ITS CITIZENS TO REMAIN POOR

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asserted that Nigeria’s abundant natural and human resources leave no excuse for widespread poverty among its citizens. Speaking at the 8th Expanded National MSME Clinic in Calabar, he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to empowering Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as engines of inclusive economic growth.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu pointed to fertile land in Cross River State and pledged a national initiative to plant 100 million oil palm trees to boost agro-economic development. The President emphasised the crucial role of the newly launched state-of-the-art digital MSME hub in providing affordable internet, modern tools, and collaborative spaces to support emerging entrepreneurs.

His message underscores a broader philosophy: leveraging Nigeria’s resource wealth, technological access, and demographic dividends to fight poverty. However, critics argue that ongoing economic hardships—especially inflation and unemployment—suggest uneven implementation of such lofty development goals.
