The Federal Government has introduced new guidelines for organ and tissue transplants across Nigeria. Minister of State for Health, Iziaq Salako, unveiled the regulations at an event in Abuja, describing them as a major step towards ethical organ donation and improved healthcare services.
The guidelines address critical areas such as donor protection, patient safety, transplant ethics, and hospital certification. The government will also establish a national organ donation registry to enhance transparency and accountability.
Salako stressed that strict compliance with global best practices is essential to restoring public trust in organ transplantation in Nigeria.
