In a major security operation, Nigerian military forces neutralized a notorious kidnapper known as “Maidawa” and several of his associates in an encounter near Isanlu-Isin, Kwara State.
The raid, which took place on September 30, 2025, was part of intensified efforts by joint security units to dismantle criminal networks operating across vulnerable communities. A security source said the news of Maidawa’s elimination was later confirmed by an associate, another bandit leader named Baccujo.
According to reports, the operation spanned multiple axes, including Ekiti, Ifelodun, Isin, Edu, and Patigi local government areas, targeting areas with recent records of abductions and terror attacks.
Government sources say communications intercepted by intelligence units helped lead troops to Maidawa’s hideout. The dismantling of his gang is being hailed as a significant breakthrough in Kwara’s fight against kidnappings.
Authorities are continuing pursuit of remaining gang members and have urged residents to provide actionable information to security agencies.
