Trump rules out Vice Presidency Bid in 2028, denies scheme to bypass term limits

U.S. President Donald Trump has firmly rejected speculation that he might run for vice president in 2028 as a workaround to extend his influence beyond the two-term limit set by the Constitution. He dismissed the strategy as “too cute.”

During a press interaction aboard Air Force One, Trump said he had “no interest” in assuming the vice presidency. Nonetheless, he refrained from fully ruling out a third presidential run, despite clear constitutional constraints under the 22nd Amendment.

Legal experts point out that the 22nd Amendment prohibits any person from being elected President more than twice. Attempts to circumvent that by first running as vice president are widely considered legally untenable and contrary to the spirit of the Constitution.

In rejecting the vice presidential gambit, Trump sought to avoid the perception of constitutional manipulation. Yet the broader question of a possible third term—though barred by law—remains a subject of debate among his supporters and critics alike.
