GOVERNOR ENO DISBURSES SEVERANCE PACKAGES TO FORMER COUNCIL CHAIRMEN AND COUNCILLORS
Governor Umo Eno has fulfilled his promise to past local government officials by disbursing severance packages to council chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, and councillors who served between 2020 and 2023. The event, held at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, was described as a milestone in grassroots governance inclusion.
Represented by Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, the Governor said the gesture was both a moral obligation and a recognition of service. “You helped our party succeed. You were our foot soldiers, and you deserve this reward,” Uwah stated.
Commissioner for Local Government Frank Archibong emphasized that the current administration values continuity and loyalty. ALGON Chairman Dr. Uwenedimo Udo praised the Governor’s transparency and reminded beneficiaries that their experience still makes them valuable in future political and community roles.
Many former councillors emotionally recounted how they had lost hope in receiving their benefits until the Governor intervened. “He is a man of his word,” said one former official. “We are with him for 2027 and beyond.”
