UMO ENO EMPOWERS OVER 400 BENEFICIARIES IN UKANAFUN COMMUNITY

Governor Umo Eno on April 29 continued his empowerment and community engagement drive with the disbursement of business grants and startup equipment to 405 beneficiaries in the Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency. The event, held during a Town Square meeting at Ikot Akpa Nkuk, provided an opportunity for direct interaction between government and constituents.
The empowerment included N50,000 grants each to 154 petty traders under the State Traders Grant Scheme, 116 farmers received agricultural support, four entrepreneurs were awarded N5 million each under the state’s MSME investment grant, and 131 others received industrial machines and equipment to support their trade and craft.
Governor Eno urged beneficiaries to use the support for genuine enterprise development. “Do not invest this in ponzi schemes or quick-money platforms. Build something with it. The government will follow up and support those who show consistency,” he warned.
The Town Square series, now in its third installment, allows the Governor to collate community-specific needs for inclusion in the 2026 state budget. Local stakeholders, including both PDP and APC leaders, praised the Governor’s non-partisan development style. The Governor also inspected the construction of the Ukanafun General Hospital, directing the Ministry of Health to complete the facility by September.
