Dr. Uche Igwe, a noted university don, has commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for what he describes as a visible improvement in security across Imo State, particularly in rural communities. Â
In a statement issued at Owerri, Dr. Igwe said that recent visits to several communities in Mbaise revealed a return to calmness and reduced metrics of insecurity. He noted that residents now feel safer and that day-to-day life is gradually returning to normal. Â
Dr. Igwe attributed the improvement to sustained synergy between the state government and traditional institutions. In particular, he praised Eze Nwandu of Ihitteaforukwu for instituting a Royal Guards outfit to support community policing. He described the monarch’s foresight as complementary to governmental security efforts. Â
He called on other traditional rulers and local leaders across the state to replicate such models, stressing that community-driven security structures should supplement formal law enforcement for lasting stability.
