The political dynamics in Uruan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State are experiencing a major transformation, as former PDP stalwarts including Hon. Frank Amba Wills-Obong and Uruan Council Vice Chairman, Hon. Grace Edem, have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The defection took place on Friday, June 20, 2025, in Northern Uruan Ward 2, drawing widespread attention.
Wills-Obong, a former councillor and chairmanship aspirant, said the defection was motivated by “enlightened state interest,” adding that Governor Eno’s leadership and move to APC offered fresh avenues for attracting Federal projects and partnerships.
Hon. Grace Edem echoed these sentiments, praising the unity of the APC in Uruan and pledging commitment to inclusive governance at the grassroots.
Zonal APC Leader, Engr. Umana, described the realignment as strategic and timely, while the Ward Chairman, Mr. Inchrist Jonathan, assured the decampees of full integration into the party.
Traditional ruler Obong Bolton offered blessings and called for political maturity, as retired civil servant Elder Eduongho emphasized cooperation and continuity in peaceful development.
The event saw a large turnout from local leaders, clergy, youth, and community stakeholders who voiced support for the growing APC structure in Uruan.
