Wike Dismisses Fubara’s Letter to Rivers Assembly as ‘Useless’

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has dismissed a letter from Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara to the state’s House of Assembly, describing it as “useless.”

Fubara had written to the lawmakers regarding the implementation of a Supreme Court ruling on the state’s political crisis, but Wike argued that the governor’s approach was inappropriate. He insisted that Speaker Martins Amaewhule and the Assembly members were not Fubara’s subordinates and should be consulted directly rather than through a public letter.

Wike’s comments further highlight the lingering political tensions in Rivers State following the Supreme Court’s decision, as both factions continue to jostle for control.
