The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has hailed Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for his visionary leadership and development drive. Wike spoke at the commissioning of the 15.8km Ikot Esu-Otomo-Azumini Road and 1.53km internal roads in Ika Local Government Area as part of the State’s 38th anniversary celebration.
The minister commended the governor for delivering tangible infrastructure that connects Akwa Ibom to commercial hubs such as Aba in Abia State. He described the projects as a testament to Governor Eno’s sincerity, humility, and commitment to the welfare of his people. Wike urged citizens of Akwa Ibom to remain united and support their government in order to sustain peace and development.
Governor Eno, in his remarks, thanked Wike for honoring the invitation despite belonging to a different political platform, saying his presence demonstrated unity across political divides. He noted that the Ikot Esu-Otomo-Azumini road not only opens economic opportunities but also fulfills promises made to local communities. The governor stressed that Akwa Ibom remains united in support of President Bola Tinubu’s economic stabilization efforts and pledged to continue prioritizing projects that directly impact citizens.
The event attracted dignitaries including ministers, lawmakers, traditional rulers, and residents who described the project as a landmark achievement. The Chairman of Ika Local Government, Barr. Utibe Nwoko, said it was the first time his people had seen a tarred road in the area, while other speakers hailed the economic opportunities it would unlock for rural dwellers.
