KWARA LAWMAKER RAISES ALARM OVER BANDIT ATTACKS IN SHARE/OKE-ODE

The escalating wave of violence and kidnappings in Share/Oke-Ode Constituency, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, has prompted a passionate outcry from Hon. Owolabi Olatunde Rasaq, the lawmaker representing the area in the Kwara State House of Assembly. Describing the situation as “alarming,” Hon. Rasaq lamented that his constituents have become victims of relentless bandit attacks, turning once-thriving villages into ghost communities.
In a solemn statement issued on Monday, June 30th, Rasaq highlighted recent attacks on Shagbe, Ologomo, Budo Idowu, and Oloruntele in Oke-Ode Ward II, as well as in Babanla, Oreke Oke-Igbo, Oreke-Oke, and Alabe in Ilere Ward. These attacks have resulted in numerous deaths and abductions, particularly targeting elderly residents and children. He decried the brazenness of the marauders, who now invade communities openly and at any time of day without fear of security forces.
Expressing deep sorrow over the displacement of many residents, the lawmaker recounted his previous interventions aimed at curbing the violence before it escalated to its current tragic levels. While commending the gallant efforts of the military, police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, local vigilantes, and hunters, Rasaq emphasized that the situation has deteriorated to the point where local security forces now require urgent logistical and technical support to combat the attackers effectively.
Rasaq assured his constituents that the Kwara State Government, led by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, remains committed to restoring peace and security. He called for calm, urging residents to remain law-abiding and hopeful, vowing that the area will not be conquered by criminal elements. “In-sha Allah, in togetherness, we shall triumph,” he concluded.
