The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate retirement of senior officers who have exceeded 35 years of service or the 60-year age limit.
Among those affected are Simon Lough (SAN), Head of the NPF Legal Section, and Benneth Igweh, former FCT Commissioner of Police, both implicated in allegations of document forgery and age falsification.
A recent investigation revealed that over 300 senior officers manipulated records to extend their service, with some allegedly serving for up to 45 years.
The Police Service Commission has mandated that affected officers repay salaries earned beyond their legal service periods and that their positions be promptly filled.
