LAWMAKER FOUND DEAD AFTER KIDNAPPING

Tragedy struck in Anambra State as the decomposing body of Hon. Justice Azuka, a member of the State House of Assembly and prominent Labour Party figure, was discovered near the Second Niger Bridge by a joint security task force.

Azuka had been abducted by gunmen on December 24, 2024, while driving along Ugwunaobankpa Road in Onitsha. His kidnapping occurred just days after he reclaimed his legislative seat following a court victory that nullified Hon. Douglas Egbuna’s earlier win under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to security sources, the suspects responsible for the abduction and murder were apprehended and led authorities to the location where Azuka’s body was dumped. A source lamented, “This is a heartbreaking loss. Our condolences go to his family, the Obi of Onitsha, Dr. Alfred Achebe, and the people of Onitsha North Constituency 1.”

The tragic discovery underscores rising security concerns in Onitsha. Reports indicate that just two nights ago, kidnappers attempted another abduction on Awka Road, firing multiple shots during the operation.

As of press time, Anambra State Police Command spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga has not issued an official statement.
