The Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja, on Friday 7th February, dismissed petitions by the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), and Allied People’s Movement (APM) against Governor Monday Okpebholo of the APC following their voluntary withdrawal.
Counsel to the petitioners, Comrade Wisdom Isaac, explained that the decision was made in the best interest of Edo State, stressing the importance of peace for development. He noted that governance is a “serious business” and should proceed without distractions.
Barrister Jackson Ehiabhi, representing the APM, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the petitioners’ desire not to impede the state’s progress.
Acknowledging their withdrawal, the Tribunal dismissed the cases, marking the fourth set of petitions nullified so far, with the PDP’s petition next in line.
