The Kaduna State Government has strongly condemned the indefinite strike declared by the Kaduna State University (KASU) branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), describing it as an act of sabotage against the state’s education system.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner of Education, Prof. Muhammad Sani Bello, the government accused ASUU of halting academic activities despite Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to addressing longstanding issues affecting tertiary institutions in the state.
The government pointed out that ASUU remained silent on these issues for 15 years but has now chosen to take an aggressive stance, disrupting the academic calendar and undermining progress. It warned that the strike could roll back recent advancements in the state’s education sector.
Urging ASUU to reconsider its approach, the government reiterated its willingness to engage in dialogue but maintained that any actions aimed at destabilizing the academic environment would not be tolerated.
