APC Targets Osun Comeback, Says August Governorship Election Is Key Test Ahead of 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared its determination to reclaim Osun State in the August 15, 2026 governorship election, describing the poll as a crucial rehearsal ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during the inauguration of the APC National Campaign Council in Abuja, the party’s National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, said the party is fully prepared to challenge the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke through an extensive grassroots campaign.

Yilwatda described the Osun election as the final governorship contest before the 2027 elections, saying it presents an opportunity for the APC to demonstrate its political strength and readiness for the next nationwide polls.

He expressed confidence that the party’s broad network of governors, lawmakers and recently defected politicians would strengthen its campaign efforts across the state.

According to him, the APC plans to carry out intensive door-to-door mobilization to connect directly with voters and build support for its governorship candidate.

The National Chairman assured party members that the campaign would be well coordinated and focused on winning back Osun State.

Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, pledged that the party would conduct a peaceful, issue-based and people-oriented campaign throughout the election period.

He said the campaign would focus on presenting the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda while engaging voters at the grassroots level.

Uzodimma stressed that the APC would pursue victory through democratic means, promising a campaign that remains competitive without resorting to violence or intimidation.

Meanwhile, the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and the APC leadership for their support and confidence in his candidacy.

The newly inaugurated campaign council is headed by Governor Uzodimma, with Ibrahim Kabir Masari serving as Deputy Chairman and Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau as Secretary. The council also includes several governors, ministers and federal lawmakers tasked with leading the party’s campaign ahead of the governorship election.
