Five suspects have been arrested in Bauchi State after police operatives allegedly found two human eyes and materials suspected to be linked to money rituals in their possession.
The suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Zone 12 Intelligence Unit of the Nigeria Police Force.
They were identified as Abdullahi Idris, Sani Haruna, Auwal Umar, Abubakar Yusuf and Sharu Sale.
According to the Zone 12 Public Relations Officer, SP Jalige Mohammad, the suspects were arrested with two human eyes, white and red pieces of cloth and other items allegedly connected to suspected ritual activities.
The police said the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation as investigators work to establish how the recovered items were obtained and whether other individuals were involved.
“Investigation is ongoing to unravel further facts about the case, and the possible arrest of other accomplices and the source of the recovered exhibits,” the statement said.
The police added that the suspects would be charged before a court of competent jurisdiction once investigations are concluded.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the zone condemned the alleged act and called on parents, guardians and residents to remain vigilant.
Members of the public were also urged to promptly report suspicious individuals, movements or activities to the nearest police formation.
The police assured residents that efforts were ongoing to identify and remove criminal elements threatening lives and property across the zone.
