Security operatives in the Federal Capital Territory have apprehended a dismissed officer of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) for allegedly supplying sophisticated firearms to criminal groups operating in the Abuja-Kaduna corridor.
The arrest, made public on March 5, was part of an intelligence-driven operation led by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit. Authorities disclosed that the former officer was caught attempting to deliver weapons, including a high-powered Scorpion CZ EVO3 firearm with a silencer, to bandits.
FCT Police Commissioner Tunji Disu highlighted the broader crackdown on crime in the region, revealing that over 300 suspects had been detained in recent weeks as law enforcement intensified efforts to dismantle criminal networks in high-risk areas.
